The Air Force recently returned 363 leased acres on Moloka‘i back to the Department of Hawaiian Homelands. This is now opening up a dialogue about Native Hawaiians being able to move onto the land. While discussions are still taking place, state leaders are hopeful that if the military returned more lands to Hawai‘i, this could provide more housing opportunities for local families.
