Brookfield developers have proposed the establishment of Ala Moana Plaza to help meet the housing needs of the greater Honolulu community. This project will include market value rentals and affordable rentals. The affordable units will be priced at 80% of the AMI to help provide opportunities for singles and families to find housing that is more reasonably priced for their incomes.
In total, the proposed high-rise tower is anticipated to host around 583 units. About 20% of these units (approximately 124 homes) will be priced at affordable housing rates. While some of the details of this project are still in the works, the building is set to be completed by 2025. Units will be available for rent, but this does not negate their ability to be placed for sale in the future, as has occurred with some of the other buildings in the region.
