The Kōkua Hale is underway to support seniors aged 55 and over with an affordable housing option in Downtown Honolulu. Once completed, the 20-story high-rise complex will feature 222 studio units ranging from 250 through 330 square feet. Depending on the tenant’s AMI, rent could be as low as $634 per month. In addition, the complex will feature specialty units for individuals with mental or physical disabilities, for senior veterans, and for frail individuals who need special accommodations. Amenities will include laundry and housekeeping services in addition to in-house laundry facilities, on-site parking, and a 6th floor deck that is furnished with seating for enjoying the beautiful weather out in the garden. Other perks will include transportation assistance, on-site healthcare resources, and meeting spaces for recreational programs.
